HE Mr. Farook Mohamed Fawzer Farook, Representative of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine, paid an official courtesy call on the Governor of Nablus, His Excellency Ghassan Daghlas, accompanied by a the Attache' of the Mission Mr. S. R. Mahinda Kumar.

At the outset of the meeting, Representative Farook extended warm greetings and best wishes to Governor Daghlas and the people of Nablus on behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka.

The primary objective of the visit was to gain a firsthand understanding of the current socio-economic landscape facing the Nablus Governorate, while exploring constructive avenues to deepen bilateral relations and economic partnerships.

During the discussion, Governor Daghlas warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his deep appreciation for Sri Lanka’s continued solidarity. The Governor briefed Representative Farook on the severe economic and operational hurdles impacting Nablus, particularly constraints on trade logistics, commercial activity, local movement, and educational continuity.

In response, Representative Farook reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s dedication to maintaining close diplomatic ties and supporting regional development. Highlighting actionable steps for economic engagement, Representative Farook officially extended an invitation to the Nablus business community—through the Nablus Chamber of Commerce and Industry—to participate in Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled to take place in January 2027. He emphasized that the expo will serve as a vital platform for Palestinian entrepreneurs and traders to establish direct B2B connections, explore high-yield trade partnerships, and expand commercial ties with Sri Lanka.

Both sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, enhancing business linkages, and supporting community resilience toward a stable and prosperous future.
