Today, Representative of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine, HE Farook Mohamed Fawzer, paid a courtesy call on HE. Mvuyo Mhangwane, Acting Representative / Chargé d’Affaires of South Africa to the State of Palestine, at the Representative Office of South Africa in Ramallah.
During the fruitful discussion, both diplomats reaffirmed the long-standing, warm bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and South Africa, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and international solidarity.
Representative Fawzer expressed deep appreciation for South Africa’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. Both diplomats recalled the historic words of the late President Nelson Mandela: "We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians." Having triumphed over the systemic injustices of apartheid, South Africa continues to play a pivotal, principled role in the global struggle for Palestinian self-determination, justice, and lasting peace.
The Attaché of the Sri Lankan Mission, Mr. S. R. Mahinda Kumara, also participated in the meeting.
The delegation concluded the visit with a mutual commitment to further strengthen diplomatic engagement and bilateral cooperation in Ramallah.
