The Representative of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine, Ambassador HE Mr. Farook Mohamed Fawzer, accompanied by Administrative Attaché Mr. S. R. Mahinda Kumar, paid an official courtesy call on the Nablus Chamber of Commerce and Industry on July 20, 2026.
Warmly received by Chamber Secretary Mr. Iyad Al-Kurdi, Board Members Mr. Majdi Al-Bizreh and Mr. Salah Musleh, and Director General Mr. Essam Abu Zaid, the delegation held highly productive discussions centered on deepening bilateral trade and unlocking new avenues for economic cooperation. During the session, both sides thoroughly explored concrete mechanisms to boost commercial exchanges, connect Palestinian traders directly with Sri Lankan producers, and leverage Sri Lanka’s key export sectors to meet local market demands. To turn these discussions into actionable growth, HE Mr. Farook Mohamed Fawzer proposed organizing a targeted trade delegation to Sri Lanka and formally invited the Nablus business community to participate in Sri Lanka Expo 2027 in January 2027 to establish strategic B2B partnerships.
Following the bilateral meeting, directors and senior officials of the Chamber escorted the Representative on a field tour through the Old City of Nablus, where he engaged directly with local industrialists, entrepreneurs, and prominent importers currently trading with Sri Lanka, including major importers of Ceylon Tea.
Both sides concluded the visit by agreeing to maintain close coordination between the Representative Office and the Chamber to finalize arrangements for the upcoming trade mission, reaffirming their shared commitment to driving sustainable commercial partnerships and mutual prosperity.
