The Representative Office of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine had the pleasure of receiving a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Sun Zhen, Representative-Designate of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine, accompanied by his spouse.
H.E. Mr. Farook Mohamed Fawzer, Representative of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine, warmly welcomed H.E. Mr. Sun Zhen and expressed his appreciation for the visit to the Sri Lankan Representative Office, extending his best wishes for a successful and productive tenure in Palestine.
H.E. Mr. Sun Zhen conveyed his sincere appreciation for the gracious hospitality extended to him and noted that this was his first courtesy call to a diplomatic mission in Palestine since arriving in Ramallah last month.
During the cordial discussions, the two Representatives reaffirmed the long-standing friendship and close cooperation between Sri Lanka and China. They also noted China's continued support for Palestine through economic cooperation, educational initiatives, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties, reflecting its enduring commitment to the Palestinian people.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on continued international support for the Palestinian people. In this context, the discussion reflected on the longstanding support extended to Palestine, including China's early recognition of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1965 and the State of Palestine in 1988.
The meeting concluded with both Representatives reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, fostering mutual understanding, and promoting constructive diplomatic cooperation in support of regional peace, stability, and development.
